When you need a unique signage solution fast, just do what Harrington Communications did – call ideation!
Kalamata, a new Greek Café was opening in 3 weeks and had just about everything in place, except for signage. With a logo, website and printed menu designed, Harrington Communications came to ideation to figure out how to make the interior of the restaurant come alive with signage. We got right to work.

Menu board with textured laminate and aluminum fixtures |
After reviewing the concept art, site blueprints and performing a walkthrough of the restaurant during build out, Ideation worked with Harrington to determine sign and graphic placements, fixtures, sign construction techniques and even ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements. Material samples were provided so that the owners of Kalamata could better visualize the proposed solution.

Custom-routed suspended sign |
We chose to construct the signs from 1/8” and 1/2” PVC. This material allowed for the custom routed “Kalmata shape” while staying within budget and maximizing sign durability. The Menu boards were installed on an exposed wooden frame above the grill and material needed to hold up to both steam and grease. They were installed using aluminum stand-off fixtures so they could easily be removed for updates or replacements. Sign graphics were printed full-color on an adhesive-backed vinyl and laminated with a 4 mil textured PVC laminate for reduced glare.

The ADA requirements were met with raised copy and Braille applied to signs printed to match those throughout the rest of the space. Labels for disposal and recycling stations were produced from cut vinyl in matching color.

Collaboration, smart ideas, excellent production and on-time installation was what Harrington needed to make Kalamata a satisfied client, and that was exactly what we delivered.
